The event raised thousands and the turnout was huge! Bowling Green came out and had fun for a great cause.

A big thanks to everyone involved- especially Zella Monroe of Downtown Massage, all of our VIP donors and of course the amazing Cheetah Clean Auto Wash who raised thousands for those who desperately need it!

Several Bowling Green bands and one singer from Nashville will join forces Nov. 18 to raise relief money for hurricane victims.

Scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Nov. 18 at La Gala, Band Together BG will feature the Ernie Small Blues Band, alternative country group the Josephines, Christian singer-songwriter Darla Day, soul/funk/blues band the Get Down and Nashville-based singer Jonell Mosser, according to Tony Lindsey of Lindsey Production Group, who is producing the show.

The fundraising efforts will benefit hurricane relief in Houston and Puerto Rico, Lindsey said.

“Those seem to be the two areas that need the most help,” he said.

Attorney Flora Templeton Stuart approached Lindsey with the idea of a benefit concert for hurricane relief and he got involved because he wanted to do something to help people displaced by Hurricane Harvey and Hurricane Maria, he said.

“I think this area in general is always willing to help out people in need,” he said. “We just feel like we have an obligation to help out in situations like these.”

General admission tickets can be purchased at together-bg-3296887790, a link available on Band Together BG’s Facebook page.

Lindsey said general admission is $15 when pre-ordered and $20 at the door. In addition, Band Together BG’s Eventbrite page lists VIP tickets available for $750.

Food and drink can be ordered at the concert.

“It’ll be a nice event in a comfortable place,” Lindsey said.

Band Together BG will also feature a raffle where attendees can win an iPad, an Xbox One and a firepit and a live auction for a range of offerings like paintings and Beatles memorabilia, he said.

Barbara Vanderveer, a member of the marketing team at Cheetah Clean Auto Wash, which is sponsoring Band Together BG, said the business plans to give attendees coupons for free car washes.

Vanderveer said Cheetah Clean wanted to be part of the fundraiser to help people rebuilding their lives in the wake of Harvey and Maria.

“A benefit like this, we didn’t want to pass up,” she said.

Ernie Small, leader of the Ernie Small Blues Band, said he recently got “a taste” of what hurricane survivors are going through when his 95-year-old aunt, who lives in Florida, had to be evacuated to a nursing home, where she stayed in a room with eight other people and had to sleep on a mattress on the floor.

“I just can’t even imagine what it would be like to be out of your home or to lose your home,” he said.

Small is participating in the concert because he wants the community to come together to help with relief in Texas and Puerto Rico, he said.

“I wanted to be a part of it to support the idea of raising money,” he said.
