Kentucky’s Insurance Success – Kynect
Health officials estimate that 114,000 Kentuckians have now received health insurance through the Kentucky Health Connection (Kynect) portal. This figure includes those who have signed up for private health insurance through companies such as Humana and Anthem and those who have received Medicaid benefits.
Kentucky’s health insurance exchange was created as part of the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare). Since Kynect’s establishment, it has had more success and less downtime than the federal exchanges created as part of the Affordable Care Act. Last year, over 521,000 previously uninsured people signed up for coverage through Kynect. In fact, Kentucky had the second highest reduction in uninsured population due to Kynect.
Because of Kynect, many people who had to forego treatment for years can finally receive the medical care that they need. If you are disabled or believe that you qualify for Social Security disability benefits, obtaining insurance through Kynect is the first step in seeking benefits and will allow you to obtain treatment for your conditions. Flora Templeton Stuart and her staff are happy to assist you in signing up for Kynect at no additional cost to you. Our office has provided assistance to approximately two hundred clients so far.
