Taking Fire Safety, And Fire Related Injuries Seriously

Earlier this month, our office joined in the nation-wide celebration of Fire Prevention Week by putting fresh batteries in all of our smoke detectors and replacing a couple of alarms that were ten years old. Hopefully this will keep all of us safe if there is ever a fire in the office. We all also took the same steps at our homes to ensure all of us are protected there as well.

Fire safety is something everyone should take seriously. Did you know that in Kentucky alone there were 58 people killed in house fires last year? And there are a lot more people that were injured but not killed.

At our firm we end up representing at least a couple of fire injury or burn victims every year. There are very few burn or fire injury cases out there where the person who was injured is 100% at fault. There is usually someone else who has been negligent and caused the fire or worsened its impact.

We help people who have suffered fire or burn injuries because someone else was at fault get the compensation they deserve. We help people who have suffered smoke inhalation, scarring or disfigurement, infections, or chronic pain investigate the true origin of the fire that harmed them, be it arson, poor workplace safety, a defective product, or something else. That way the parties who are at fault can be held properly responsible.

We also have years of experience digging through medical records to make sure the full extent of an injury is known and can be taken into account during settlement negotiations or at trial. A lot of times negotiations are with the insurance company that is going to pay for the harm done. These companies know that fire and burn injuries are costly, so they are quick to throw out a settlement number hoping to resolve the case.

Unfortunately, the initial offers from insurance companies are always lower than they should be, but many victims don’t realize this. Hiring an attorney to push a defendant and their insurance company to pay their fair shares is always a good idea in a fire injury case.
