Semi-truck Flips, Driver Sustains Minor Injuries
What should I do if I am in an accident with a semi-truck?
A semi-truck overturned on the Audubon Parkway recently, leaving the driver with minor injuries. Harold Fulkerson of Henderson County got out of the truck on his own and, despite head injuries, refused medical attention off the scene. According to the police, the accident was caused when Mr. Fulkerson attempted to exit the Parkway onto Kentucky 416, but could not handle his speed and flipped the vehicle. The truck slid up the embankment and blocked the entire exit ramp for several hours. The truck was carrying 4,500 gallons of fertilizer. Of those, 200 gallons leaked out while the truck was on its side.
The ramp was reopened by law enforcement officials after they helped clean up the fertilizer spill. “The product was not hazardous,” according to Emergency Management Director Larry Koerber. “We expect that this year the grass will be dead because of too much fertilizer, but next year, they won’t be able to mow it fast enough.”
In this case, there were no other vehicles involved in the crash. In an accident in which a semi-truck overturns, it is important to go to the hospital to make sure there are no serious injuries. Because of the serious nature of such an accident, the risk of injury is increased. It is important to treat whatever injuries arise as soon as possible. It is also important to speak to a lawyer to find out who is responsible for your medical bills.
